Projects

The S.C.H.V.C. are always busy with vehicle related projects. Whether its club members working on or restoring their own or other club members vehicles, or major restoration projects for the club, which are done in conjunction with our highly regarded Mentoring Scheme of many years, in which schoolboys from the Eden Marine High School of Eden NSW, are taught the basics of mechanics, panel beating and spray painting, at the same time learning important life skills.

Update on Current Projects:

Oldsmobile

The club restoration of the Oldsmobile tray back has been progressing fairly well in the last few months.

A new wooden tray body and front seat has been built and oiled, looking fantastic.

The motor is now running but requires some tuning and the radiator needs to be cleaned out. Harry has overhauled the carby but it is hard to progress much further with the engine till we locate an elusive starter motor. If any members know of any leads to find a starter motor please advise the team.

Colin has done a great job adapting mudguards to suit and has started the radiator surround. Suitable period headlights have been found.

Great job happening Team Oldsmobile, Colin Woodhouse, Harry Keys, Geoff Graham and Tony Stove

Railton

The mighty Railton is progressing slowly with lots of fiddly tasks being progressively completed like the completely new dashboard and gauges assembly.

Work is now progressing with the windscreen frame and mounts. Suitable headlights have been sourced.

Most of the body panels have been painted, although a rea undertray section is still to be fabricated.

It will certainly be an impressive vehicle when its finished.

If anyone has spare time to assist you help will be much appreciated, contact Fred Silk.

Republic Truck

It may not look like much progress, but the Republic has been steadily progressing with our master wheel wright John T working hard manufacturing four completely new steel wheels from scratch. Rod Newman has progressed on the front suspension and steering gear.

They need some helpers please especially anyone who would like to assist with assembly the engine and modifying a diff assembly to suit the chain drive set up. Please talk to John Turbett if you can assist in any way.
